Volunteer Spotlight: Gigi Gaines & family
ma Cares is fortunate to have some incredible volunteers who help us to make a difference in the lives of children, families, veterans and animals. One such volunteer is so amazing that she gets her whole family involved!
Readers, meet Gigi Gaines. Gigi is a mother of three, the Controller – Americas and European Union at Market America, an avid volunteer, and ma Cares Board Member. The Faith Cares program is dear to her since her husband served in the military and she knows the many sacrifices our servicemen and women make for our country.
Not only does Gigi help in planning our charitable efforts each year and keep our accounting records, but she volunteers hours of her time too. From soliciting support for the Faith Cares program at last year’s convention to spending time with children at a local shelter for homeless families, Gigi is one of our most dedicated helpers. Her husband and children often accompany her as well. For this couple, giving back is truly a family affair.
Charley, the oldest of Gigi’s children is a member of Girl Scout Troop 1937, who recently conducted a Stuffed Animal Drive to help us collect plush toys for children in crisis. Charley even made her first TV appearance last year, assisting us in promoting a Halloween Costume and Coat Drive for homeless children. Her artistic skills have come in handy in creating signs for toy drives, too! Needless to say, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree!
As if all that wasn’t impressive enough, the Gaines family has also fostered animals for Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network, including a cat and a rabbit. We’re not sure if there’s anything Gigi and her family won’t do to help!
We are so grateful for volunteers like Gigi and her family. Is there an avid volunteer who inspires you? Tell us about them!
