Service Dog Support Program: The maCares Service Dog Support Program is committed to ‘helping service dogs help others’ by relieving the financial burden of caring for a service dog so the recipient can focus on living a full and productive life. The covered expenses include re-certification training, veterinary, medications, grooming, and daily care including food.
The maCares Service Dog Support Program provides financial assistance for service dogs which help those with physical, neurological and/or medical challenges. Our flagship program, faith Cares, is focused on providing financial assistance for service dogs of veterans who have sacrificed so much for our country. faith Cares even has a spokesdog – FAITH!
FAITH is my name and service is my game. You may be familiar with me through my many tails and pearls of wisdom featured in the maCares blog, Fridays with FAITH, or perhaps you’ve met me walking down the halls after an maCares Committee meeting. My primary duty is as a service dog to SGT Terry White, PH OIF, but I have so much love to go around that I inspired Terry to come up with a ‘paw-some’ idea to bring joy to others who are serving our country.
faith Cares is an maCares initiative, represented by yours truly. I am named after U.S. Army Sergeant Faith Hinkley, who died on August 7, 2010 in Iskandariya, Iraq. This program is twofold; it continues a sponsorship program initiated in 2013 to assist veterans by raising funds to cover the costs of continued care for their service dogs, as well as provides the faith Cares veterans a support group led by a licensed therapist.
As most pet owners are well aware, caring for furry friends like me can get to be pretty expensive. We service dogs, in particular, need to be in tip top shape since we spend a lot of time helping our handlers in public places. maCares helps us to continue to stay healthy so we can do our very best to assist our veterans and nonveterans.
We are honored to support veterans and their service dogs as well as nonveterans and their service dogs. I think it’s pretty ‘paw-some’ myself!

maC.A.R.E.S. Fund: In order to assist homeless, neglected, or abused animals in our community, maCares established the maCares Animal Relief and Emergency Services Fund to help with the cost of emergency services and special care needed for rescued animals in the care of Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network.
maCares, in consultation with Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network, has identified a critical need of their organization that we are striving to address. Many homeless animals are in need of care or emergency treatment in order to save their lives and better their chances at finding fur-ever homes. To help give these animals a second chance, maCares engages in fundraising efforts to build the maC.A.R.E.S. Fund to be used for injured or sick animals in the care of Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network.
Red Dog Farm Animal Rescue Network is a North Carolina 501 (c)(3) non-profit corporation formed in August 2006 to rescue and rehabilitate neglected, abused or otherwise unwanted animals in and around Guilford County, with a particular focus on domestic farm animals. The rescue utilizes a network of volunteers and private foster families to accomplish their mission. To date, Red Dog Farm has helped rescue over 2,600 animals including but not limited to horses, dogs, cats, sheep, pigs, goats, bunnies, birds, and reptiles. Their office is currently located in Bur-Mil Park in Greensboro, NC.
