Fridays with FAITH: Thanks to YOU, maCares Service Dog Teams & Their Families Can Enjoy Life!

Hello my FAITH-ful readers! I hope you’ve enjoyed a relaxing summer! Ready for some service dog team updates?! You already know that service dogs, like me, make a big difference in the lives of others by promoting independence and introducing the ability to live again. Add the help of ‘paw-some’ maCares supporters, like YOU, helping to sponsor the daily care costs of their service dog – and it really allows our hoomans to enjoy life! What a big difference!!!! Check out some of the ways our hoomans have been enjoying life.

Brittany & GRIFFIN

After earning her Graduate Degree, Brittany (& GRIFFIN) competed in the Ms. Wheelchair USA pageant In Ohio, representing as Ms. Wheelchair North Carolina! Brittany has pushed past her pain and fear to accomplish her dreams to make the best out of every day. “My pain is driving me to be who I want to be”. She wowed judges with her inner and outer beauty as well as with her platform of ‘Tassels Without Barriers’ – which promotes universal access on educational campuses in order to increase accessibility, allowing students to define themselves through their capabilities, not their diagnoses. Brittany was crowned Most Photogenic and Ms. Wheelchair USA!!!!

Harrison & PARKER

Six-year-old, Harrison went on an amazing adventure to Camp Victory Junction in Randleman, NC and had such an incredible experience! He was over the moon from this priceless experience! Camp Victory Junction allows children with serious illnesses a chance to be kids – playing, imagining, making friends, and enjoying the adventures and experience of camp life while having life-changing camping experiences, at no cost to children or their families.  This dream was made possible by Market America’s own Marc Ashley, Brandi Ashley Quinn, Patricia Cote, and Victory Junction Ambassador, Cathy Davis.

Dustin & TAHOE

Dustin’s daughters, Anika & Cecilee, have been busy! Anika competed in a Classic Bowling Tournament and her team placed 1st!! She also earned an award for a High Handicap Girls. Younger sister, Cecilee, earned an award for Bumper Buddies and she also earned her 2nd degree yellow belt in karate. The proud parents are enjoying watching their girls enjoy life!

Keith & SOOKIE
Keith and SOOKIE passed their training assessment follow up!!! They are ‘paws-itively’ official now!!!! They have been enjoying life together with lots of outings and trips together!

These are just some of the ways we are celebrating our hoomans enjoying life! To learn more about the service dog teams you are helping when you support maCares, check out all the maCares & faith Cares sponsored service dog teams by clicking here.

This article was written by FAITH

My name is FAITH, and I'm a service dog to Sgt Terry White, PH IOF. You've probably seen me around the Market America office or at one of their events. I'm the pretty blonde with the big smile The wonderful maCares team is pretty fond of me, and they've decided to devote each Friday's blog post to my stories, pearls of wisdom, and "tails" of others giving back to their communities. We'll call it "Fridays with Faith". What you may not know about me is that I'm named after someone special. The flag that represents this great country flies high on the flag pole for my namesake's sacrifice. I am named in memory of U.S. Army Sergeant Faith Hinkley, who died on August 7, 2010 in Iskandariya, Iraq. Faith was part of the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Through me, Faith Hinkley's legacy lives on, helping and healing another wounded soldier. maCares loves making a difference in the lives of veterans and animals. Please consider donating or getting involved with maCares so they can continue supporting veterans and dogs like Terry and me, and honoring heroes like Faith Hinkley.
