Fridays With FAITH: Support the maCares Tribute Run/Walk

Hello my FAITH-ful readers! While you are celebrating the start to the summer and remembering those who made the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom, we have a way you can honor our service members and first responders. maCares is holding a great tribute event you can sink your ‘paws’ into no matter where you are located! Isn’t that just ‘pawesome’?!

Has your sniffer picked up the scent that maCares is holding its 2nd annual run/walk to honor the strength, courage, and sacrifices of service members and first responders from the past, present, and future?! All proceeds will support the maCares & faith (that’s me!) Cares Service Dog Support Program. This program relieves the financial burden of caring for a service dog so that the veteran, child, or adult can focus on living a full life with the aid of his/her service dog. Makes me feel better than getting a belly rub!!!!

Here’s the scoop on the 2018 maCares Tribute 5K Run/2.5K Walk:

WHEN – September 8, 2018

WHERE – Country Park/Jaycee Park in Greensboro, NC

HOW – Register at https://www.maCares.racewire.com

WHO – All 2 legged humans, including those little humans in strollers and friendly, leashed 4-legged furry animals

WHAT ELSE – There will be an awards ceremony, a variety of silent auction items, food (that makes me wiggle), a 50/50 raffle, and more! Sign up by August 6th to be guaranteed an event t-shirt!

TEAMS – Something that has my tail wagging is that anyone can form a TEAM to walk and enjoy the comradery of your humans & their furry companions! Invite your friends, family, neighbors, and co-workers to join your team – then reach out to another person and challenge them to create a team. See who can get the most team members! Which team has the best name? Who can get the most donations?

VIRTUAL ‘PAW-TICIPANT’ – Want to support the maCares and faith Cares Service Dog Support Program, but can’t make it to Greensboro on September 8th? Not to worry, you can still participate by being a Virtual ‘Pawticipant’! You can walk or run wherever is convenient (your neighborhood, a park, a mall) on September 8th or whatever day works best for you. When you sign up by August 6th, you will receive a t-shirt to wear while you are walking or running to support maCares. Share video or pictures of you, and your family and friends, walking or running to support maCares, by emailing the files to weCare@maCares.org.

Please put your paws together for our ‘paw-tastic’ sponsors who have committed to helping us this year – SHOP.COM, Dixon Hughes Goodman LLP, EPES Transport System, Inc, Marriott Hotels, & Sharp Business Systems!

Grab your leash and let’s go run or walk on September 8th! Don’t forget to sign up by August 6th using the above registration link! For those that can attend the Tribute Run/Walk, be sure to sign up before early bird pricing ends on May 31st!

My name is FAITH, and I'm a service dog to Sgt Terry White, PH IOF. You've probably seen me around the Market America office or at one of their events. I'm the pretty blonde with the big smile The wonderful maCares team is pretty fond of me, and they've decided to devote each Friday's blog post to my stories, pearls of wisdom, and "tails" of others giving back to their communities. We'll call it "Fridays with Faith". What you may not know about me is that I'm named after someone special. The flag that represents this great country flies high on the flag pole for my namesake's sacrifice. I am named in memory of U.S. Army Sergeant Faith Hinkley, who died on August 7, 2010 in Iskandariya, Iraq. Faith was part of the 502nd Military Intelligence Battalion, 201st Battlefield Surveillance Brigade, Joint Base Lewis-McChord, Washington. Through me, Faith Hinkley's legacy lives on, helping and healing another wounded soldier. maCares loves making a difference in the lives of veterans and animals. Please consider donating or getting involved with maCares so they can continue supporting veterans and dogs like Terry and me, and honoring heroes like Faith Hinkley.
